Stories, songs, flying sheets tell the singing of the struggles
Stories, songs, flying sheets of the La Counting Association of Milan, is the name of a choir made up of about thirty women and offers songs that generally deal with issues related to the female universe, to the pride and courage of women who, Despite the difficulties of life, the effort of work and the injustices suffered daily, they maintain a firm and live their identity and femininity.
The objective of the group is to spread a cultural heritage that represents enormous wealth in the Italian music scene (and not only) and to enhance some of the main interpreters and researchers of popular singing such as Rosa Balistreri , Caterina Bueno, Luisa Ronchini , to name a few.
One of the most significant and interesting songs that the choir proposes is called the stacks , from the Veneto Incirar dialect, which means to infill.
Who were the stacks
The stacks put the glass pearls for the conterments, the Murano glass factories. This activity took place at home, began at an early age and continued for the rest of life. The women were subjected to very tiring shifts to carry out an underpaid work and little or nothing recognized and were controlled and often exploited by the Mistra , a Venetian name to indicate the teachers, or small entrepreneurs.
Witness of the difficult condition of the staples was sexola, the large wooden spoon that served to remove the water from the boats, a very useful work tool because it contained the pearls that served to create jewels and decorative objects. But the sex, as the text of the singing says, in addition to the pearls collected the tears and sweat of women and often, in their imagination, they turned into a sort of "weapon" with whom they dreamed of undoing "el cocòn", the chignon of the Mistre, hairstyle with which the women of the time used to collect hair.
The rebellion of 1904
The stubbornness took to the streets during the rebellions of 1904. In that year, the workers gathered in one of the first female alloys, the league of stacks and stitched strikes to the cry of "lowering sex, remenent the needles!".
Ribellions that of course were repressed and ridiculed by the male chauvinist press. The singing was collected, directly from the voices of an elderly stacking, by Luisa Ronchini Bergamasca and Veneta of adoption, known for her important role in the study and safeguarding of the popular musical heritage of that region.
Lyrics of the song
SEMO SUPER SPIARNESSE
SEMO qua de vita full
tuto fògo in the veins
core blood venessiàn.
No xè gnente that you teagna
when furie becomes,
semo done that we will imitate
and whoever stacks gà reason.
If he works all the day
as living machines
but it seems to be astussie and hardship
between a thousand humiliasiòn
SEME FìE who consumes
the most beautiful years
for a few of the schei
who is enough to be Magnar.
Go the sex to say
how many tears that I have,
every pearl that we will imitate
xè na giossa de suòr.
For Poverete Poverette
other, no one remains
of being the head of the head
at Siensio and to work.
If if you tase I maltrata
and if you get tired if I lean
like thieves if we see
Cassar Dranto in Preson.
I go the mistles who vorave
as much as magnar lore
with the sex one a 'ste siore
on desfemoghe el cocòn!
