The artistic voice is one of the human expressions in which bodily doing is sublimated, celebrates life and becomes art.
Artistic phoniatry is a branch of Foniatria (or of the Audiology-Fondiatry), a medical specialty achievable after graduation in medicine and surgery.
The diction artistic phoniatra therefore indicates a doctor, who has achieved the title of specialist and who deals with professional and artistic amateur, spoken, recited and sung, in the clinical and research fields
The areas of competence are those indicated below:
1) physiology of the artistic phonatorial act. In this context, it proposes the description of the behaviors deriving from vocal production in the various styles and performative ways (refraining from evaluating didactic specifications but being able to refer to them to describe their physiological results) and promotes the understanding of the physiological mechanisms expressed in the performative motor gesture vowel.
2) Clinic of vocal, dysfunctional and organic pathologies, in the report to the various styles.
3) Semeiotics of perceptive, clinical and instrumental signs (including electroacoustic investigations).
4) Epistemology of rehabilitation in multidisciplinary collaboration with speech therapists and teaching.
5) Scientific research related to the artistic vocal performative.
6) Didactics of the physiology of the vocal act, of the pathological problems relating to the artistic profession, of the rehabilitation strategies of the bearer of disodia and dysphonia.
In synergy with the similar disciplines, with educators, singing masters and speech therapists, artistic phoniatry performs a role of information on the problems relating to the artistic voice, prevention of vocal disorder and promotion of the health of the performer.
The graduate in Medicine and Surgery that has completed the cycle of specialist studies in Foniatric or Audiology-Fondiatry can be the owner in Foniatric. However, the diction of Foniatra is also used by generic or specialized doctors in another branch, which in this way declare to operate in the field of phoniatrics without specific specialization or with a similar specialization, for example otolaryngology.
The diction of specialist artistic phoniatrician can be used by specialist doctors in phoniatrics who can demonstrate specific skills not limited to the care of the voice but extended to the diagnosis and care of the professional artistic voice and its safeguard. These completely specific skills may have been acquired on the field, with continuous and prolonged collaborations with artistic or conservative bodies, testified by having produced publications and texts relating to artistic vocality, having made a reasonable number of hours of teaching on the topic for Recognized entities and universities.
It is not necessary for an artistic phoniatric being singer or executor even if the practice of a vocal art or a similar discipline (direction, dramaturgy, etc.) is a further implementation of competence.
The diction of artistic vocologist applies to a professional, even non-doctor, who has carried out a specific course of high university education or a specific university master of the I post-graduate level in artistic vocology. Since the diction defines the acquisition of skills and not a professional role, the definition of this should be accompanied by that of an expert in artistic vocology (for example: specialist in phoniatry expert in artistic vocology; teaching of singing expert in artistic vocology; etc. )
