Today I will tell you about my personal speech therapist experience within a choir of white voices.
The entire elaborate is taken from my personal experience within the San Carlo Theater in Naples.
Assisted by Maestro Stefania Rinaldi Director of the Choir of White Voices, I was able to observe over the 4 years that I attended the various aspects of the children's voice and its evolution over time, another very important aspect we started a "measurement of their musical intelligence ". ... topic that I will not deal with in this article.
Thinking about children prodigy and their musicality and the development of their vocality came to mind a book read some time ago entitled: "When Mozart was a child".
I came across this book , during the research necessary to write my works and it passionate about the life of the Mozart family, a very united and cohesive team in which everyone encouraged all the others. The times were then turbulent, the seven -year war had just ended, the roads were dangerous and the science was just at the beginning.
Little Mozart was early fascinated by the numbers, who wrote on furniture and walls: he had a disturbed hearing, although the story remember it as "absolute ear".
From the outset, the school performances that start at the nursery school, the little ones have a first approach with music with singing.
They sing songs to give themselves the good day, to learn the verses of the animals, to learn to count ... .. "discoverers of talents" are the teachers of the primary school who will direct the parents "proud managers" to cultivate the talent of the little singers thus developing their " musical intelligence ".
From this moment on, the interest in the child's voice changes totally. During the early childhood we are concerned if the little one is late to produce words, if he does not pronounce them well, or if he stammers, while systematically underestimates his bad voice, daily abuse, the habit of uurlo.
For this reason I believe that entering a chorus of white voices is a good opportunity to develop some skills and thus derive some advantages:
- Bring children and their families closer to the theater
- Learn to share
- Teaches the discipline
- Enhances listening
- All are the same
- Everyone is indispensable ...
…… Nobody is the protagonist !!

The insertion of a child in the choir of white voices cannot be separated from a careful evaluation aimed at providing the news necessary for the identification of all those data that need to be able to take a correct path of vocal pedagogy and to highlight the "skills" of the child.
Selection criteria
In choosing the elements called to form the choir of white voices, we proceed according to the following criteria:
• Vocal extension: from La2 at least until Re4
• Vocal color: considered satisfactory on the basis of subjective criteria; of the master
• absence of joint defects
The main objective of the choir is to privilege the merged voices, depending on the needs of the repertoire and the director's requests. Paradoxically it is necessary to flatten the characteristics of the individual voices, to enhance the collective color of the choir.
Singing well and dancing well means being well polite.
