A library that is enriched every day thanks to my singing books. Today I would like to make you discover my favorites
Song never betrays us. (Albert Hera)
Every day I thank the song because it allowed me to grow as a person, as an artist and as a teacher.
Rzie to singing I met many people learning that the beauty of the voice unites and makes us free.
Over the years during my lessons I have often spoken of books that have been important in my personal growth path.
For some time, however, several students and readers have been asking me for a definitive and updated list of those who consider the best personal growth books, in short, those books to read absolutely if you love the world of singing and voice.
I then thought of dedicating this article to this list.
Meanwhile, I have entered 10, but the list is very wide and I will update it with care and dedication to satisfy your requests and share what has been the result of great enrichment for me.
Are you ready to start?
In this list of recommended books you will not necessarily find readings that fall within the classic definition of singing or voice manuals. For me, however, it was very useful for my growth as anra and singer also to range outside my discipline.
I advise you to start from what inspires you at this moment and that could offer you ideas to be applied immediately on your path. I have always loved to read and learn from others to apply my creativity and ideas to the field to have suffered a resulting practice.
Let's start with a list that I believe contains the unmissable singing books.
Vocal art. Pathopathology and rehabilitation of the artistic voice.
I love to confront science because I consider it the means to complete my growth as a teacher and researcher within the voice. The meeting with Franco Fussi and Silvia Magnani made me fall in love with voice science. I love detailed descriptions on vocal registers and vocal hygiene principles in this book masterfully presented by these two important phoniatrics.
The song and its techniques
was the first book I bought in a shop of the memories in Piazza Castello in Turin. He was very young to the point that the shop no longer exists now. In this reading, the idea and philosophy of Antonio Juvarra is contained which traces its line of natural cantar with the new edition. For me it was essential to approach vocal pedagogy.

Breath and voice
this book was important to make me reflect on breathing and on vocal emission as elements connected to each other and their bond with posture in singing and theater.
I always say to my students taking inspiration from a quote by Antonio Juvarra:
"Song is water, breath and sound are the parts that make it up."

Out of the head. Because the school kills creativity
this book has opened my mind on how learning and creativity is conceived in our society according to Sir Ken Robinson.
In the pedagogy of the song that I carry on in the last five years I have tried after this reading always to find in my travel companion (pupil) his resource to make as natural as possible what his essence grants him.

thanks to Javier Romero and the Bapne method I learned of the Harvard Howard Gardner researcher who made me discover the theory of multiple intelligence. This book describes its research in detail and has opened new ways in my vocal pedagogy.

Apology of Socrates
the knowledge of not knowing, the value of the question and the importance of Maieutics are elements that I always try to pursue in my didactic approach. I believe a lot in the value of philosophy and in what has transmitted to us thanks to thinkers such as Socrates and Plato.
The words of the scene
Terminology in singing teaching is fundamental.
In my past I used not appropriate and misleading terms. Thanks to this book I started giving another weight to words during my lessons.

Theory & Harmony of Andrea Avena Vol.1
When I was small my instrument was the clarinet and then the sax. I immediately understood the value of playing an instrument and knowing music for us singers.
Music theory in my path has the importance of having opened me to further language to dialogue with the musicians. This book for my experience is certainly the best on the market.
